Praying for Success

On her worst days she prays, on her best days …..she prays

The steady stream of emotions that comes with putting it on the line is more than roller coaster-ish enough to make you feel like maybe you really are crazy. My first really big experience with this is the 2020 Xtreme Million Barrel Race.

I have been competitive my entire life, put myself into unfamiliar passions and competitions, and thoroughly enjoy the thrill. Until the Xtreme Million there has never been enough emotion to make me question the thrill.

About 2 weeks out from this scale of competition I lost my emotional fortitude… I fell apart… scared, nervous, praying that emotionally I was strong enough to compete or face the disappointment of a hit/fail. That I could do what it takes to get there but when it came time to complete Id fall apart. I was weak, scared, feeling small… so I prayed.. prayed for clarity of a plan, for soundness of my animals, for trust in HIS path for me, and for my friends and competitors.

I knew my heartbreak if I failed, but that didnt happen yet.

So I let go … and let GOD.

I found strength in a plan, strength in trusting that HE knows the outcome and faith that we can all go into the competition as sisters and competitors with love for one another cause we are all on a journey and all have our story.

3 spots.. 3 times on the board and home for a week.

I find myself conflicted when I try to be excited for the results.. feels weird to pray for a “check” when I know we all want it just as much as the other. To hope for the prize saddle when I dont have a “need”.

This has lead me to think about how to approach and pray for success as a Christian competitor. Will it seem ungrateful, boastful, self centered to pray for your own success?

The desire to compete and succeed at a competitive level without a base of gratitude and humbleness seems like building your house upon the sand. Building your house upon a foundation of gratitude, hard work, desire, and grace seems like building your house upon the rock… so where in that competitive mindset, that aggressive drive to do your best.. is appropriate to let your prayers, heart, and goals align

Here are some scriptures I find understanding on the topic in:

Job 36:11, NIV If they obey and serve him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment.

Psalm 37:4, ESV Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Tales from the Pit -2

Last weekend finished up our WPRA Circuit Finals Race, where we have a great chance to get a good chunk of money onto our permits, or go for great prices in the card race, and the open 4D.

My black gelding has been working so solid this fall, 1D placings, money, even a custom saddle. I was looking forward to sending him into the permit race and try to add a balance to my 0.00 permit.

That’s right…. as we finish up one season and start another, once again I have not landed into ANY permit money. Last season I was looking forward to a great schedule of perfs and slacks to get my feet wet on the rodeo road, but my lesson learned was…. how to take last place. I could take the night at an amateur rodeo, and get last place the next night at a pro rodeo.

I left the season feeling like… yeah ok, I WANT to do this, I want to fill my permit next season and to do that I started looking for a proven horse with the consistency and drive that my old man seems to not be as vigorous for at 16, he is on or off and at his age and all he has done for me, that’s just fine if rodeo isn’t his thing.

This spring I found the ultimate power horse, young, had stats, has the drive and WANTS to eat it up… So here I am …. my dream fire breathing dragon being delivered to make my summer dreams come true…. our first few runs we smashed … laid it down and I felt like ” holy shit, its gonna happen!!” We really have a chance!! Well, it doesn’t matter how finished, proven, how much money you pay… a horse is a horse of course, and I was only able to haul a few rodeos before my gal had other opinions and we halted to address her needs.

Let me stop in the story …. have you ever hauled on the “pro” road ? Kept your horse, yourself, your family, your rig.. all moving in the right direction while trying to compete… Thees girls are no joke.. savvy, running their game plan, making the runs and getting it done. They are hardworking cowgirls, and them and their horses are the toughest you’ll find.

Despite my lack of “winning” or being the “newbie” I felt like every cowgirl and cowboy I was able to meet, had a way about them that drew you to them. Friendly, kind, and kick ass. Even without any winnings ( now for 2 years) it will be an honor to hold a pro card, when my time comes. From top names in barrel racing sharing laughs and stories at the wash, to cowboys giving my little boy a rope and roping all night.. These are experiences that we will all cherish, and I can feel myself slowly becoming that strong, get it done barrel racer that it takes to be on the road.

I now have 2 red head mares that I can only hope to get with this next season, I have set myself up with all the tools and have gotten used to what would outwardly be deemed as a prison ass whooping … I hit at my finals permit race, my heart was a bit crushed, im not gonna lie, but I know the gelding enough to know when he starts hitting he is sore or long in the toes.. that’s the great thing about KNOWING your horses, I know what his needs are and I feel that can be a huge advantage with your horses. I always here” don’t ya wish they could talk?” They do communicate with us, I think the question is have we spent enough time with them to know their communication and listen.  I have a desire to learn the mares, learn the ropes, continue to create the friends and memories… $1000 to earn a pro card doesn’t seem that challenging, heck I know girls who have filled their card from the first pro rodeo they decided to enter… All I can think is Ive got more to learn to earn my stripes, so here I sit reflecting, planning, changing up my game, learning my horses, and the only choice I have is to try again.

Tales from the Pit – 1

Perception – Reality – our concept of ourselves – Funny things they are because all of them are so subjective on our personal experiences, thoughts, everyday life.

I wanted to start a series of blogs from my point of view, my reality.. my opinions are just that .. my opinions based on the life I live and experience. I feel that I have a lot of life experiences, lots of lessons learned and an open mind for continual learning as I go.

Rather than being tales from the crypt … we are going to call this blog series … Tales from the Pit .. the center , the heart and mix of  it all, tales from one wild ride as we strive and push ourselves in this game called life..

I hope you enjoy, follow along, and look forward to our conversations to come !!

Equine Nasal/Lung Health

Hey y’all and long time since we have had a conversation !! We have been busy on the road,  trudging through this long winter and continually stocking the shop with amazing products for all our best gals … ahemmm YOU ❤️

We have been fortunate in our Spring time travels to learn a little something extra about lung health and the game we all play of keeping our 4 legged partners healthy, happy, and sound!! WE BELIEVE IF YOU WANT YOUR HORSE TO PERFOM LIKE A MILLION DOLLAR HORSE YOU NEED TO TREAT IT LIKE IT ALREADY IS !!! So we strive to bring the best products and all the knowledge we gather while on the road to YOU !!!

We don’t claim to know it all or be a pro and our advice shouldn’t be a reason not to speak with a veterinarian if you have questions or concerns about your animals. But here is a little information and our thoughts from what we have been learning on the road.

Think how many times in a single barrel run your horse has quick starts/stops/and turns.. each time your amazing animal rates, turns and powers off again it has a whole internal system the starts, stops, and turns with it. There is a claim that essentially EVERY performance/barrel horse is a bleeder to some degree. As the vessels in the lungs get stressed ( aka the lungs get pounded by the lbs of guts behind them) they break , which causes bleeding. So without even noticing blood or diagnosing your steed as “a bleeder” the need to pay attention to our horses inner workings is important!! Preventative maintenance will save you so much time money and heartache in the overall lifetime of your animals and career!!

So here are some of our favorite ways we are learning to love our ponies lungs…..

1) Our essential oil blend Play to Win !! A super easy and non invasive way to encourage your horses airways to open, promote blood flow and the Copiabia (which is essentially CBD) has healing and calming properties for mental and internal health. Just roll/rub this blend in your hands or over their muzzle  and reap the benefits.

2) Flair Strips – Once again a super easy, non invasive and veterinary tested option for helping your horses airways hold open and allow the most possible air into your horses lungs more effortlessly for them than not using a strip. To read more visit, and also which is a very informative and fun race incentive which you get a free Flair Strip with each incentive pre entry!!

We love to pair our Flair Strips with our Play to  Win for easy on the road lung support!!!

3) Nebulizers. These awesome and kind of fun to use machines are becoming more and more versatile and travel worthy. There are so many great products and solutions they you can use to encourage and promote health and healing through nebulization. Our favorite is a Lung Health formula from Rebar Ranch Naturals that we use 2-3 times a week in our Silver Horse Care Nebulizer. For more info on Rebar Ranch email

Yes, we have used and love Colidial Silver solutions in our nebulizer and feel like it is great for clearing and cleansing the lungs, but for performance lung health and preventative we prefer a lung health solution that helps with inflammation because inflammation and trauma lead to broken vessels which leads to bleeding.

Thats our latest news and findings , once again these are our personal learning, opinions, and findings. We encourage you to learn more about your horses lung health and what works best for your program!!

Please drop us a line in our contact form or our DMs on Instagram and FB !!!

Listening to the Rain

At times we go through life with a constant nagging anxiety, stressing to hear, see or know the lining behind the moment. Trying to listen for what’s going on beyond the rain, when listening to the rain ,  when just that .. listening to the rain IS the moment…

I find myself in a trend… by day 2 on the road my mind has settled. My anxiety of being away from home has become a dull humm and my thoughts tend to float into a simpler brain space to form ideals that become a part of my subconscious make up. This is the space where I feel inspired … I grab the floating thoughts and store them away to listen to while we are passing white lines. This is the space where I blog, I feel it is my best self… my most open, analytical, and inspired space … Do you know where that space is ? Can you find it and give yourself the break from listening through the rain ?

My space of clear is different than yours, and yours from mine and another’s from ours. My husband finds this in the quiet of his helmet while he is on his motorcycle adventures… I’m sure some find it in their sewing, baking, nursing their newborn, swimming, watching the movement of your horse, hiking with your dog, cross country skiing.. so many moments that can click the unlock button on your brain and just let you breathe …

This morning before getting back on the road I was afforded one of those moments in watching the horses move and play. Some background on the troops to really understand the moment : DJ- is the oldest, the quintessential barrel horse aaannddd he knows it. Rad – New to me this year, he is young but has switched many hands since his futurity year.. I have the stories of his history in my mind but what he is showing me is a fun loving, ready to take on the world personality. Hatter – a young stallion on his first haul he is wide eyed, thinks he can take it all on and that he is the coolest man in the barn yard … he is just like our teenage son, haha, the ambition is somewhat contagious and watching him somewhat nostalgic.

My moment came in watching these 3… in Dj as the head being patient but to the point when Hat decided to get too close, in Rad wanting to kick up his heels but still hold position in the herd so rather than play WITH Hat he showed off full speed running circles around them, kicking his feet up and loving life all in his own moment and space. And Hatter … thinking he should stand and try to decode the horses in the pen next door, but wait .. his little “herd” was walking the opposite direction.. you could see him consciously make the choice to fall in line with his “people”, even tho it meant he couldn’t be the puffed up man of the hour.

I feel like we are all any of of these 3 at any given point in life… maybe all in one week, one day. We can go from the leader to the one needing to be lead, this hit me. Because sometimes I’m the one who is looked to as a director or leader, but other times I find I am the one looking to those I trust, my Husband, and CHRIST to lead me !!!

In our day and age the facade that we have to be this puffed up big shot (Hatter) that runs the world all the time to be anyone is a daunting ideal that is fueled by social media and varying opportunities.

When Hatter fell in line and softened to the idea of being with the boys vs what he could have chose I SAW the learning he gained, he softened and became a part of something again. When he could have stood alone and become obstinate or distracted by ideas that wouldn’t serve him.

From them to you … it’s ok to be anyone of them .. the leader, the easy going task master, or the one who needs the support… it doesn’t take away from you to be in any one of those stages at any point in the day, month, year .. rather just like Hatter … allow yourself to be the one your life is calling for to L EARN AND GROW

Who Am I

We did it gals !! Another year behind us and another year to look forward to !! Do you ever catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror, or reflect on “did I really just act like that” or think to yourself “ I remember when I …”  AND THINK TO YOURSELF “ WHO AM I” !!

It is my belief that this year should not be a year of “where did I go” or “ what have a become” but “WHO AM I BECOMING”

What current paths are you making a priority and what are you giving your time and energy to ? Like it or not .. the answer to those questions is what is shaping you today for your tomorrow!!

I encourage and suggest sitting down and really answering your own questions of what’s important to you? Who do you want to be? What do you NOT want to give time to this year? How can you become the woman YOU want to be ?

Maybe you want to cook more dinners for your family .. CREATE a schedule .. start small and work up to your personal ideal of what each goal looks like !! Maybe you want to support your kids in a new hobbie … make the effort to get them there … tell yourself it’s worth the effort to make the effort to be who you want to be for others and YOURSELF !!

One of my personal goals is to declutter .. my office drawers, my makeup & hair drawers, my storage room .. create a clean organized under layer in my world so when I need something in my day to day, I know right where to go to get it. Why I think this is important is with so much happening in my day, if I can grab and go and count on what I need being where I think it’ll be, I will ultimately save time and my day will go smoother !!

Heres to 2019 !! May your goals be detailed, your heart be happy, and gratitude be bountiful !! God is good and kindness is key !!

CREATE Your Life

We all know the hashtag trending right now #livingmybestlife, its being used for a whole array of pictures and posts from international trips to someone eating their favorite ice cream flavor. I have to admit I too have thought about tagging the view over our mountains #livingmybestlife”, the view on our boat #livingmybestlife but when I think about it, it seems arrogant and shallow….. we all live our day to day life no matter if we tag it the best or the worst. There is a commonality no matter how much someone makes, how many kids a family has, where we live geographically; we all live in the confines of the sun rising and the sun setting… the time it takes to turn off our alarm, push the go button on the coffee machine and get the kids on the bus, or ourselves out the door to work. We live in the everyday, day in and day out, our box of reality that is “our life”

I have been, in my last onslaught of self help books written by social media influencers and media moguls, realizing that the underlying message is sooooo similar. The answer isn’t wishing you had someone else’s social media numbers, exotic cars, perfectly behaved children, or stepford wife life…. it is literally CREATING THAT “BEST” LIFE. Having the courage to look at what you want your best life to look like and stepping into the desire to have it without having to have the step by step guide of how to get there.  To be in the game, to show up, to not be afraid to fail, or wonder what your neighbor/friends/family will think when you are all in for your best life. When you show up and say, THIS is what I want, and I’m going to get it.

There is no guarantees that just because you are ready to say YES to yourself and the life you are creating that it isn’t going to be messy at times, harder than you think you can get through at times, times when it all goes right, and times that you have no idea what your next move should be. One thing all the influencers, motivational speakers, and those social media stars you follow will tell you .. is that it is worth it!! YOU are worth it !! So come on girl…write down your goals, do your hair, and jump ALL IN to creating that life you are destined to have !! You cant LIVE your best life unless you CREATE your best life !! #createyourbestlife

Born to Run

Girl you were born to run.

I have always had a passion for all things animals, but horses have always had my heart. I was born and raised in Utah and grew up in the home my parents built themselves. Growing up my family didn’t have a ton of money and we defiantly could not afford to own horses. I had to get my fix for horses from somewhere else. Usually that meant I was sneaking off to the neighbor’s yard and playing with their horses. I was “that kid”, anytime I saw someone riding horses I had to stop and watch or ask if I could see their horse. Sometimes I got really lucky and I could sit on or actually ride the horse. I took every opportunity I could to ride. I was lucky enough to have really great family friends  that owned horses and put up with my horse craziness.

I get asked all the time, if I grew up doing this or how long I have been barrel racing.  Or what made me get interested in the sport of barrel racing. The answer always surprises people. I didn’t grow up barrel racing. My family didn’t rodeo, I didn’t even have friends that were into horses like I was. In fact I didn’t run my first race until I was in my 30’s. Now I’m competing against girls (and guys) that have been doing this all their lives. So how did I go from young horse crazy girl to now racing my owning my own horses? Well for me it took a huge shift in life., A ton of faith, and literally walking on fire!

Now I’m not saying that you have to walk on fire to achieve your dreams, but you also cannot just sit around and wait for things to happen for you. It is truly amazing what will happen when you set your mind to something. The universe will conspire WITH you, when you set your intentions to it. I had to completely change my mindset. I didn’t have courage, I doubted everything , and was a huge skeptic. Once you kick out those thoughts and work on your beliefs system, changes start to come.

I didn’t have a plan, I didn’t have a barrel horse, I didn’t know the first thing about how to barrel race. But I knew that it was something I wanted to do and I wasn’t going to stop until I had achieved my goal. I set my intentions and I had to really step out of my comfort zone, and put myself out there. It’s not easy being 30 and admitting you know absolutely nothing about something you love so much! I also was not a super out going person, so the thought of having to make new friends and connections terrified me. But again, I was not going to let that stop me! I had to hang up my pride, I had to put my faith in God, and I had to show up and put in the hard work. I rely heavily on prayer and constantly asking God to give me strength and courage.

Here I have a few tips and tricks that I use to help me prepare for race day, or just life in general.

  1. Prayer/meditation, to me this is the most important. It doesn’t even have to be a religious thing. For me it is, but it can also just be about grounding and finding your inner peace. This is so important for both you and your horse going into any competition. Obviously nerves are a part of the experience but anything you can do channel them gives you an edge. Just beginning each day with a grateful heart and setting your intentions for the day will greatly improve your mood and overall life.

  1. Essential oils. I love to pare my essential oils with feelings and emotions. If you have a horse that tends to get nervous or anxious this is a great way to help them cope and deal with them. Using essential oils when you are not competing in times of calm and peace also help your horse associate those feelings of calm with competition.  Have a game plan and make a regimen. They can help in so many aspects of your journey I use them daily for myself and horses. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to reach out.

  1. Prepare/putting in the work. I know this sounds obvious. But in the beginning this was something I really struggled with.  I had this naïve thought that I could just show up with my horse and that everything would just fall into place for me. I thought that if I just had faith and prayed a lot about it that we would start to win. But God doesn’t reward the unprepared. I needed to show up, I needed to put in the work. I had to prove I was willing to do hard things and put forth the effort.

  1. Family/friends. Man I know this so important. Studies show that the 5 most people we surround ourselves with are who we most become like. This is no joke, you want to be successful? Put yourself around people that want to be successful. It doesn’t have to be in the same area. Just people who are motivated to rise and not be content with the status quo. You want to be around people how have good energy and fill your glass as much as you fill theirs. I have heavily relied on my family for this. My Parents have ALWAYS been behind me and even now are one of my biggest support systems. I have a husband and a couple of truly amazing friends that I rely on. They help fill my bucket and give me strength. Find that support system because the journey will be lonely if you don’t, and the celebrations will be boring without them.

  1. Humility/kindness. I cannot say how important this is. Horses themselves are so humbling, just when you think you have it figured out BOOM! Your horse will hand you your ass tied up with a big bow. But in those moments that is when you need to stay humble and never be cruel. Someone is always watching your actions. It’s how we act in private that define who we truly are. Be the person that makes everyone proud to call you a friend or family. Smile and say hi to the new girl at the arena. Offer kindness to those that are your competition. Always stay humble and kind.

Through this journey I have been frustrated. I have had to relearn everything I have ever known about riding. I have had haters. I’ve had people that didn’t believe in me. Some made comments that I have ruined my horse and I’m doing it all wrong. I’ve even questioned my own abilities, and if I should even be living this crazy dream of mine. But through it all I come back to one thing. This is my dream, it gives me joy and girl you were born to run.  Never stop chasing your dreams. #whatelseispossible #longlivecowgirls #daretodream

Yours truly,

Jemima Street
